Frequently Asked Questions

Product

  • Phthalates are a family of compounds that help better a fragrance’s blending and burning properties. However, the improved performance comes at a cost. Phthalates have shown to decrease testosterone, and may affect neurodevelopment in children. Even though phthalates can have varying degrees of impact, we have made the decision to bypass them entirely for the cleanest burn possible.

  • Essential oils are oils extracted (steam distilled or cold pressed) from plants, herbs, and flowers, and are a great source of fragrances. However, many titular fragrances have plants that don’t produce essential oils, figs, or strawberries for example. This limitation in variety and poor heat tolerance (essential oils degrade in high temperatures) are the main reasons why we chose to not focus on essential oils when designing our candles.

  • We use fragrance oils with natural and synthetic ingredients for two reasons: a wide selection of scents, and compatibility with heat and soy wax. Natural oils are composed of isolates from aromatic components of plants, fruits, and other natural elements. They are mixed with aroma chemicals to produce a stable oil, which blends well with soy wax and produces a consistent scent regardless of temperature. This also gives us the most creative freedom to create unique candles that can fit any space or mood. Our fragrances are sustainably produced, IFRA certified, vegan and cruelty-free, and contain no allergens.

  • We opt for soy wax in our candles because it’s vegan, cruelty-free, biodegradable and water-soluble. It is, in our opinion, the most environmentally friendly wax and provides a clean burn.

  • Each of our candles comes with a care card, but if we had to boil it down to a few cardinal rules: trim (or break off) your wick after every burn, always wait for the hot wax to reach the edges of the container on the very first burn, never leave a candle unattended, near flammable objects, pets or children. Have a bit more patience with wooden wix and soy wax – and, most importantly, enjoy the burn :). Check out the candle care guide on our website for more tips and tricks.

  • The scent and the wax need some time to bind together for the best burning experience possible. This can take up to 14 days - so, depending on the date your candle was poured, we may ask you for a bit of patience before lighting it for the first time. Pour dates are indicated on each candle’s dust cover.

Buying & Returns

  • We do our best to practice conscious material purchasing and reduce excessive inventory. Generally, all our candles are hand- poured in small batches. However, depending on stock and availability, once in a while we can ship out a few pour-to-order candles.
